A time to come together...

Picture
In short, COVID-19 has rocked our world.  Of course at Loeta, we are doing all we can to make what is already an emotional time for our families as calm, easy and safe as possible.  In addition to partnering with programs to ensure that our clients are being cared for appropriately, we are also making sure that all program who are still taking clients are abiding by all State, Local and Federal guidelines.  On this page you'll find some helpful links, including those to our latest newsletter and video which both address COVID-19.  Additional links can be found on our Helpful Links page.

As here in Maine we are about to surpass 100 days of some form of quarantine/social distance/limited interactions, Loeta is acutely aware that we are in a new normal.  As children and young adults are now without the structure of schooling, and with many summer jobs and camps closed, many families are struggling and need support. Couple this with the fact that no matter what happens with the virus, fall semesters will look very different in September. As we hear it, some schools will open with modified schedules, some will operate under traditional schedules, and some will possibly not even open.  Things are, in a word, uncertain.

We at Loeta have taken advantage of the time in the home office and focused on educating ourselves.  We feel strongly that we need to work with families to think outside the box as we all navigate these uncharted waters.  In that spirit, since mid-March we have participated in over 20 virtual tours of programs throughout the country and have attended in excess of 15 hours of trainings on everything from self care to eating disorders to tech and social media addiction.  These trainings and tours are great evidence of how the entire community of individuals and programs centered around struggling adolescents and young adults has rallied to ensure that high quality care is available, especially during these difficult times.

Just like everyone else, we don't know what's going to come of the next few months, so we continue to do all we can to be informed, educated and ready to help when and where needed.

Certainly we all want to be well informed, and neither over, nor under, react.  We feel strongly that the one source of what is real and and what is hype/rumor is the World Health Organization.  Here is their link to their Coronavirus COVID-19 page.

Here is a list of on-line support groups which are taking the place of in-person meetings during our period of physical distancing:
