Every journey is unique. One thing that we pride ourselves on at Loeta is that for each journey we build a strong team, and we embrace that every team is different. When looking at a mental health therapeutic placement we make sure that we match the family with individual therapists and not necessarily with programs - the same goes for choosing a detox, rehab or aftercare facility for our clients struggling with addictions or substance abuse issues. Of course co-morbidity is a huge issue, and we will make sure that whatever program we recommend is going to work with you and like us, meet you where you are; in short, it’s all about the match. We always transport, or an interventionist; we know the people and know who works well with whom. When looking at a school placement we want to make sure that we have not only determined what sets your child apart from other candidates but we have also embraced all of our clients positive attributes, and have sought out their best possible environment.
All that being said, there is no set formula we go by with families. We feel very strongly that we need to meet every family where they are and respect and honor their path. There is no judgement, but rather there is respect. We know that we will never know your loved one as well as you do, and we need you to help us. We are a team, and together we will get to the next level.
So how do we get there?
Initially we gather information, assess the level of need, and start to lay out a plan of action to help. We want to talk with everyone; parents, siblings, therapists, Psychiatrists, coaches, teachers, anyone who is going to help us paint a picture of the situation and assist us in setting up a plan. We can do this over the phone, Skype or in person. Often times time is an issue, so we embrace technology, and utilize it to help us gain information quickly.
Once a plan is laid out, it is important for us to guide families through what can be a very overwhelming time. Not only do we make sure that all of their questions are answered, often before they are even asked, and that all the pieces of the puzzle are lined up, but once the client is in the program or school we make sure that we remain part of the team through the whole time; because every journey has a beginning, middle and end.
